Learning English easy or difficult?

Dear all,
SaigonTech is the only college of Vietnam which use English as the communication language in its campuses. Half of SaigonTech students are in ESL program currently. They all have a certain level of difficulties in learning this international language.
However, learning English will be much more easier if you can learn from the experience of other learners. It is strongly believed that, while sharing experience you can improve your English rapidly.
This forum is used for English learning. Advance learners should join and exchange their knowledge with one another so that they can both help others and , at the same time, perfect their English. Beginners are strongly recommended to put their questions here in case they need helps.

I think learning English is very hard. i have problem with Reading. I can't understand more. people say with me you are very good at English. please tell me some experience.

I think Vietnamese students usaully have problem with listening, but when you improve your listening, reading is the most difficult part in English. I think you had better start to learn more vocabulary at this time. Because later, if you attend a SAT class, there will be more difficult words that u have never ever seen before. I my self have an IELTS, but when I try to take a SAT examination, my reading is just 350/800 . So I think, reading is the most difficult part that we have to improve. Try to improve your reading . So how about the writing, because i failed 2 semester but i did not know the reason why. I asked instructor who marks my exam paper he said all grammar exam i did nothing but i don't think so, i just think i failed because i wrote the paragraph too bad. Who had the mistake as same me ?

I am always afraid about listening. I cannot hear anymore. Anything is not clearly, please help me to improve listening skill by your experiences.Thanks.

Well, according to my experience, I think when you start to write, first of all, you should make an outline ( dan y' ) , because it will help you very much when you begin to write. Then, after you have your outline, start to write. I suggest you should pratice at home, then you can ask your teacher to correct it for you. You also need to read some books too, because there are a lot of useful tips for you if you want to make your writing improve. Good luck

Listening is the common problem that every students in Vietnam usually have, so don't worry about that . As all the teacher say : " You should pratice at home, do much homework and your listening will improve ", I think that is a good idea, but not enough because we will all get bored after listening some boring homework( that is just my opnion ). I think we should listen to some English music ( some music that you love ) and try to sing through the lyric of that song .First, you can not only relax but also learning, when you can sing ( your speaking will absolutely improve ), try to listen to the music. and if you don't know any words, you can look up from your lyric. Or maybe you can try to talk with some foreigner teacher, try to speak with them as much as you can and you will improve. That is the way I practice my listening, may be you can try another way also. That sound great! I like music. And I think everybody do too.
But I fell bore when listen to one kind of music for a long time. I tried to look for new style but I have not found it. So, please share with me your favorite music include it's lyric. Thanks so much
With me, watch movie is also wonderful. I like to watch movie with Vietnamese language and English subtitle. Hi hi, My listening is not good. So it will difficult for me to understand if I choose English audio.

I'm very happy to hear that from u ^^. I guess u should try to listening some old music, classical music because it is very easy to listening. By the way, this is the link that you can download lyrics : www.song365.com ( I had already checked it, and it still works ). Watching some movie is also useful too . Why don't u try to watch some movie with English language and English subtitle too ? It's gonna work, believe me ^^. First, u can try to listen to English with Vietnamese subtitle. Then, try to listen it again, but with English subtitle. And when you think you can listen, try not to see the subtitle, but by listening and remembering what u had heared before and try to understand the movie. I think it will help u a lot. Because nowadays, some interesting films don't have an accuracy subtitle, so it will make you confuse and angry. Try your best and you can be better . Good luck
